MEET THE ARTIST
Emily has been performing as a solo vocalist with her acoustic guitar in the Lower Florida Keys since 2013. Her earthy style and eclectic song selections have prompted comparisons to Tom Waits and Joni Mitchell. Michigan raised in a musical family, Emily studied music throughout grade school, was self-taught on the acoustic guitar, and received group and private vocal training as an adult. From Billie Holiday to Bobbie Gentry, Emily pulls from folk, rock, jazz, reggae, American roots, and more.
With a work background in ecological preservation and an Interdisciplinary Humanities degree from Michigan State, Emily is inspired by respect for social consciousness and Mother Earth. She has just released her first original single, “The 10¢ Bottle Law,” a tongue-in-cheek plea for expanded recycling programs. She hopes to reach her audiences with a free spirited, down-to-earth appreciation for the richness of life.
